3 ways to dress sustainably
Many of us enjoy splashing out on new clothes, and with many January sales temptation is never too far away.
But how can you expand your wardrobe while maintaining a sustainable lifestyle?
Obviously, purchasing new clothing from big brands online comes with its downsides, while it can be extraordinarily convenient the detriment to our environment is too harsh to ignore.
So to dress more sustainably, here are our 3 tips:
1. Thrift shops/Charity shops:
Providing you are not in a Tier 4 area like us you’ll be able to pop along to thrift stores and charity shops, while there is not always great options, if you target the right areas there can be incredible bargains available; not to mention the opportunity to adapt or alter the garment to create something unique.
2. Ask friends/family:
It’s fair to say we all have a great many garments in our wardrobe that we haven’t worn in years and will never, ever, ever wear again.
So why not take advantage of the opportunities to swap around with friends and family to give old dusty garments a new life and love?
3. Shop sustainable brands:
For those of us stuck in Tier 4 for now, while we may not be able to explore other’s wardrobes or go shopping in secondhand stores, we can still shop sustainably; brands such as Lucy&Yak, Rapanui, Gngrbees and more are making incredible moves to build eco conscious and sustainable garments that help the planet.
